Yard Sales
It is such a terrific shame that people abuse seemingly everything that the City of Tucson has now had to create an ordinance regarding Yard Sales.
People began conducting Rummage businesses at their homes every weekend under the guise of a "Yard Sale"! All week long they scrounge the city for goods from wherever (see Excessive Storage) and then put it out on weekends to sell. The wheels of government turn slowly but eventually CoT finally put together an ordinance to prohibit these disruptive and disturbing unlicensed business enterprises in residential areas. |
Basically it boils down to you can not have more than four three-day yard sales in a twelve month period. That's the rule.
Should that be more than ample for most of us? ABSOLUTELY!
Could there be an exception in our lives. Yep. Would any of our neighbors truly care if we were moving or some such thing? The likelihood of that is minor. This ordinance is to prevent unlicensed rummage BUSINESSES and not to be a problem for honest hard-working people and families if they need to rid a home of its contents or some such thing.
If you should spot someone holding "Yard Sales" on a regular basis and you suspect it is NOT being done to clear out a home, they should be reported. If they want to have a rummage business, they can open up a brick and mortar store with a license to do so.
