Tagging and Graffiti
GRAFFITI & TAGGING
As far as I'm concerned, an enormous amount of Graffiti is out and out ART. It can be stunningly beautiful and creative. That's not what happens here. What we get here is simply tagging.
TAGGING SIMPLY INVITES MORE TAGGINGWe NEED to keep after tagging. Tagging not only looks bad, it invites more tagging and bad elements to the neighborhood. We've ALL got to work on this -- PLEASE if you have tagging on your property, spend a few dollars on a can of paint and spray over it.
BETTER YET!!! Contact Graffiti Removal and they'll come out FREE OF CHARGE and remove it! This has to be located an area that is publicly accessible.

Tagging is nothing more than people leaving their destructive mark on our properties, curbs, signs, and anything and every thing that their nasty hands and markers can find.
Sometimes this IS a "gang" marking it's territory. Sometimes this is just a low-life with nothing better to do. Sometimes it's nothing more than a kid experimenting Whatever the reason, we MUST as a community, clean it up ASAP! |
What you can do:Take care of it yourself. If this is fairly minor or on private property, just spend a few moments. I'll be providing some info regarding color matching below.
Contact the City.
They can be reached by phone at 792-CITY (2489) eMail: [email protected] Online Request Form: http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/graffiti/report Contact your Neighborhood Association
Someone from your neighborhood association can and should be able to assist in directing and helping you. They also have access to paint that the city will provide to them free-of-charge. What The City WILL Do . . . .The city's Contractor will remove graffiti and tagging on surfaces within the City right-of-way, from commercial and public properties such as utility boxes, power poles, exterior walls around property etc.
They will not remove graffiti and tagging from private buildings or areas withing a private property. They will not remove it from property belonging to private businesses (i.e. privately contracted dumpster, etc.) For complete information regarding Tucson's Graffiti Abatement program, please use this link: http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/graffiti |

Wouldn't it be great to see some true art round here rather than the crappy tagging we get?
