DOG WASTE - PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAYS
Quite a number of years ago at a steering committee meeting, the subject of the problem of an abundance of dog poop littering our neighborhood came up. I was very happy to be a part of the "Dog Poop" Dispensers that are around our neighborhood and came up with the prototype for them. I was busy with other CNA responsibilities and credit for their construction and replenishing goes to another previous member. I don't know who is now carrying on the responsibility but my thanks is extended to them. If you need a bag, take one. If you've got extra bags, please feel free to stuff them! It has helped our residents be aware and take responsibility and the reduction in dog waste on our streets has been tremendous! Those bags are there for convenience but small fold-over sandwich type bags for the little guys and cheap food & storage bags for our big friends are readily available very inexpensively. DOG WASTE -- PRIVATE PROPERTY
SSNow that we've helped clean up our streets, we may need to notify Pima Animal Care if we're aware of unsanitary conditions on a property. Too often, people can be very lazy and or feel it's their yard, dog and their business if they don't want to be bothered to clean it up. What they don't understand is that it effects people all around them and invites flies and vermin which affects ALL their neighbors. That's just the most obvious reason one may need to register an animal waste complaint.

BARKING DOGS
Let's rejoice that we have a neighbor with a dog that will bark at a passerby! That alerts us that somebody is out on the street or nearby and it may cause them to move on away from our home and property. That's all well and good until we have a neighbor with a dog who is incessantly barking either during the day or at night. This is not "alert" barking anymore :-(. This is not something simple to rectify but hopefully a chat with the dog owner will do the trick. Keep in mind, if it's bothering you, it's likely bothering other neighbors too and you can ask them to also approach the owner. Sometimes it's just not possible or prudent to approach the neighbor. You can register a noise complaint with Pima Animal Care by phoning them at 243-5900. Here is the Complaints Process
Fines range from $50 to $500 per offense. Complaint cases will close after six months. Complainants may also pursue civil action of their own. |
