PLEASE, EVERYBODY, REPORT ANY AND ALL CARTS!!! These really muck up the look of the neighborhood but even worse, they're dangerous on our streets. Cars can run into them and kids will play with them.
How we got the City of Tucson to act on abandoned shopping carts
We should still be applauding . . . . There was a fellow named Mike who really took the problem of abandoned shopping carts on. He was relentless!!! He'd go to meetings, he'd write to our officials, he started a facebook group . . . . I simply don't know everything he did but I know he worked really hard at finding a solution to the abandoned shopping carts that were all over our city, in washes, in the desert, streets, EVERYWHERE. He named the facebook group TucsonShoppingCartBlight and then one day it was gone. Huh??? As it turns out, Mike didn't hang around and take applause or try to direct things or critique how things were going. He got the city of Tucson to agree to a program to pick up shopping carts that are abandoned and turned in. Once he'd done it, he didn't hang around for accolades but he should have as he deserved them. What just one single person can do in this city, is tremendous. Applause!! Applause!!! Mike!!! |
