CODE ENFORCEMENT
Code Enforcement is such an incredibly valuable resource and though none of us want to report violations and possibly cause neighbors distress, we have to keep in mind that the violations, if unattended, can and will affect our own quality of life and can impact our health and well being as well as help invite criminal activity and bring down property values.
A neighborhood that is trashy and untended attracts nobody. Those of means and education have the ability to pass on residing here while those who don't, and are often of the criminal variety, will populate and overrun the neighborhood and it continues to become a downward spiral.

Just What is Code Enforcement?
Code Enforcement is responsible for investigating code complaints that affect the health and safety of residents plus property maintenance by enforcing a number of City regulations.
The City of Tucson's Code Enforcement section is entirely Complaint driven. In other words, a Code Enforcement Inspector can and will drive right past OBVIOUS violations. ONLY if they've received a specific complaint will they respond, investigate and possibly write up a Notice of Violation. Complaints can be submitted Anonymously. Your name and email are requested but it is not necessary to provide them. There is chatter about possibly this system changing as many people are reluctant to report violations on neighbors. Code Enforcement investigates numerous situations with Weeds actually being their number one complaint. Other things are Illegal Dumping, Abandoned Waste, Excessive Storage, Illegal Signs, and more. I address each of these issues under Resources Two or by clicking on the desired options here: Weeds, Junk and Debris, and Assorted Violations (Excessive Storage, Illegal, Signs, Junk Motor Vehicles, Vacant/Abandoned Structure). |

Weed Reports: A postcard goes out to the property alerting them that there has been a report of weeds and that it needs to be taken care of and they are given a window of opportunity to do so. If they exceed that window, a CE activity number will be generated and further action will be taken.
Illegal Dumping: Usually this gets passed on to Environmental Services and becomes their responsibility. Often these reports get very quick attention. All other reports (JMVs, Refuse, Excessive Storage, etc.): Get entered into the Code Enforcement system and an activity number is generated. The quickest way to find info about reports is to go to Property Research Online here: Another way to follow up on your reports or just to see what's on the Code Enforcment listings is to go to the Neighborhood Support Network and see Code Violation Listing there:
After you're there, you can click on the Cabrini Neighborhood or any of the neighborhoods that are nearby or surround us:
